motor mounts, how??
ok guys i just pulled out my 305 tbi and i am gettin everythgn cleaned up and read for the 350. well i go to put the new motor mounts in and the bolts keep spinning and nuthin, well wut do u know therres nuts on them, but how the hell do i get to them nuts without takein off the A-arm ?? is there somtin i am missin here cause i'm not takein off the A-arm but i am defnot putiin in a new engine with old mounts. well please help cause anything woudlk helpl rigth now??
I was able to get mine with a long 15mm wrench and a 15mm crow's foot from Sears, using the open end. No a-arm removal needed. The long wrench gets the two way back in the crossmember, the crow's foot gets the one you can see easily at the a-arm bushing joint.
Its extremely difficult but you can get a 1/4 " drive socket on a universal or a 1/4 " swivel on them just enough to loosen them. Putting them back is a real MF'r
I struggled through them when i put them in, then when i did my control arm bushings i tack welded the nuts to the frame.
My best advice is to bite the bullet and take the control arms off, get new bushings while you are at it. It'll take about 1/2 the time to do both at the same time than it wil to do them individually. If you can, weld the nuts on while you are at it.
PS are you using urethane motor mounts???
