Where's the Tranny mount?
I have receieved my Tranny mount from summit, I heard it wasn't that hard to replce, so I was going to attempt it myself. Is this thing on top of the tranny, or bottom, or where. Can someone give me a round about location of where the mount is located? Never worked on a tranny before. I am really low on funds and installing it myself would realy help me out. Thanks in advance!
Look under the car. See the transmission? (box that the driveshaft goes in to).
There is a crossmemeber that goes across. The tranny sits on this crossmemeber which is bolted to the frame. The tranny mount is in between the crossmemeber and the tranny. Easy swap. BUT, support the tranny with a Jack before you remove the crossmember. I've heard of some people screwing their motor mounts up 'cause of this.

Support the tranny with a floor jack before you remove the cross member. It will make the job a lot easier. I hope you have Energy Suspension brand of tranny mount. As I recall you'll have to enlarge the bolt holes. Good luck.

remove cross memeber? I didnt have to do that I just jacked the tranny up after I loosed the bolts off the tranny mount. I used a big jack and a text book to even out the weight on the tranny pan.
i replaced my tranny mount in my 88 formula 350 with a stock rubber replacement, i would of bought a poly but i needed to get the car running again, and i had no time to order one.
i jacked the car on the drivers side and then i put the car on stands and used the jack to hold up the tranny, then i took the crossmember up, a few big bolts and took the old mount and put the new one in.
the old one was so torn up, from my 350 tpi power house...

I did the same thing (left the crossmember in), except I used a block of wood between the trans pan and jack. The trans shifted a bit to the side, and made some of the bolts hard to thread in- I think it was because of the torque arm. So I just yanked the trans to the side and the bolts were able to go in. (make sure the car is SECURE on your wheelramps or jackstands and that the wheels are blocked well!)MdFormula, my 2.8 (173ci) powerhouse went through 2 of those rubber mounts in 3 years.
But seriously, the ES one has been on since '97.. take a look into it, it's given me no problems! Add the ES torque arm mount and you'll get some great handling out of the deal, too. Thread
