Has anyone else had problems with Earls front brake lines fitting the caliper?

Here's my problem. I have a 85 trans am that I put the 89+ rear disks on. Well, I got the braided lines for the rear from andyz28 when I did the swap. I made a deal with someone to split the cost if of earls brake lines if I kept the front and they got the rear. They had a 89 plus setup so I ordered for the 89 and up thinking the front brakes were the same. Well the part of the brake line that would attach to my front calliper is square and the old one was rounded. The problem is that the square is too big to fit in the spot so I cant attach the brake line to the calliper. I called the parts store and they said that the calipers for 85 and 90 have the same part number so I was wondering what I should do. Is there actually a difference in the calipers? Let me know.

Thanks for the help,
Ben

My '87 has the round fittings on the Earl's lines as well as the stock ones. Sounds to me like you have the wrong application, maybe the ones for the pbr calipers and not the iron calipers.

That really sucks because I already shipped the rears off. Well, they are very close to fitting and look like I might be able to cut the tips of the top corners off and make it fit. The rest of the line appears to be the same. I may try this, but if it doesnt work, I guess I will have to order some new ones and make sure I get the right ones this time. Anyways, its 3 in the morning, and I just got done helping my friend fix a leak at his fuel pressure regulator and I am ready for bed.

I assume you have the stock iron front calipers. If so, the lines you have will not fit without some modification. You could grind the corners of the hoses off a bit like the stock ones are and they should work fine. Otherwise, you could grind the round lip off the calipers and save the hoses...calipers are cheaper, and therefore more desirable to destroy.

Had the same problem with the Earl hoses not fitting the calipers, because of there square design. I just returned them and bought
a brand that fit front & rear without making alterations. Note. on the package it does say design may not conform to stock applications, or whatever.

Yes unfortunately I do still have the stock front iron calipers. I have however upgraded my rears to the pbrs. Anyway, I might grind the caliper instead so I dont mess up the lines. Oh, well I guess as long as they work I will be happy. It just seems that everything I buy ends up needing modification to work.

Thanks
