What gear are you running, all the guys around here that have good hp, 3.73 or higher are all running 27", 28" or taller tires, otherwise you take the chance of running your motor way before the end of the track. Plus if you have'nt tubed your rear and it's all factory, I'm not sure if even the 10" slicks will fit after you air them down, I had 10" wide radials out back at 35psi and that was close, at 12-15 psi they're gonna bulge out quite a bit. Your theory is right on rim and tire selection though get the tire width and rim width as close as possible.

Im also interested in the MT street slicks. I want either 15x10 or 12 rims in the rear and 15x6 or 7 in the front. Whats th best size for my setup. I have 4:11 gears. All other specs in sig. Also whats the biggest tire I can fit in the rear with the stock length rear end without rubbing? Thanks all
Watch out with your sizing selection there. M/T ET Streets are measured by SECTION WIDTH, not actual tread width like the ET Slicks. A 10.5" tire actually has about 8.5" of tread and a 12.5" is around 10" wide. If I were you I'd run a 15x10" rim and a 28x12.50-15" tire, but I'd also check first to make sure it's not going to rub. That should provide more than enough traction, I've seen guys running deep into the 8s with tires not too dissimilar than those. The only difference being theres are normally 30s instead of 28s.
Whats the easiest way to check for rubbing? I have never done this before. I know how to check backspacing and lug size. Do I check the height while my tire is on the car. Should I measure from rim to wheel well or tire to wheel well? Also when measuring width to the wheel well, do I measure from rotor to wheel well? Anything will help. Thanks for replies.
