anyone with manual steering

I drove a turbo MR2 and it had no power steering. I could feel the road way better and it wasn't too difficult to steer. If I switch my Formula to manual steering would it be harder to drive? The heavier weight and wider tires would make it harder right?

I just want to know if manual steering would be ok for a daily driver or will I be kicking myself. Right now I have the quick ratio box and people tell me it feels dead. It's too light and you can't feel the road at all.

It is not to terribly hard to drive with the stock tire size, but keep in mind that I'm a big guy. I have heard a couple say it is difficult at low speed, NOT WHAT YOU WANT IN A DAILY DRIVER!!!. Smaller tires and wheels will help, I'm switching to 15x4's to give you an idea. I drive the car in town and don't have to much trouble. Other advantage is saving weight and it does clean up the engine compartment a bit. It also adds a bit of that trick factor if you are in an area with very few thirdgen modders.!!!

*Highway driving is as easy as having powersteering.

Actually I was going to get wider tires. I'm building the car more for the street not drag racing and would like it to handle great in the twisties.

I want really tight steering that lets you feel the road so you can tell when the tires are at the limit. I could use a workout while driving too.

I was thinking the S10 box wouldn't be too sporty feeling. Would it make my car feel like a truck?

The S10 box is your best option.

You can't compare the steering on 2 completely different cars. Most of the manual steering cars now use rack and pinion. They handle much easier than a manual steerring box.

You can convert a third gen to rack and pinion steering but don't expect it to be an easy or cheap swap.

If you want tight steering action then stick to the close ratio box.

What's the steering ratio on the S10 box?

I was looking around and the web sites say there are 2 ratios for manual GM boxes. 26:1 and 20:1.
