confession: I SUCK AT BRAKES! help?
The first time I ever laid hands on a car to work on it was a brake job on my 86 grand am. To make a long story short, it ended up going to the mechanic anyway.
I've learned a lot since then, but it seems like everytime I mess with my brakes, something goes horribly wrong, and it ends up going to the shop.
I'm getting ready to replace most of the brake system on my 89 Formula (all 4 calipers, all pads, all 4 hoses, master cylinder, all 4 rotors), and if anyone has any pointers on how to do it without ending up in a shop (and the poor house), let me know! Especially tips on bleeding, since I think that's my weakest point...

What are you confused about with bleeding? Do you know what bleeding the brakes accomplishes? Are you faimiliar with the bleeder screw on your calipers?

the best advice i can give you is to bench bleed the master cylinder before you put it on the car. if you're uncomfortable with bleeding the system, your friendly neighborhood mechanic could probably do it for an hour's labor ($50 or so)

Get a set of metric tube nut wrenches, you'll need tham. After all these years your hose nuts will be siezed in there good and a regular open end wrench will just round the nuts off and leave you frustrated and going to the shop again.
