Which sway bars are better?

Which would be better for a front sway bar- one form an 84 Z-28 or an 83 Trans Am?

Anmd for the rear-stock 83 Trans Am or 86 IROC w/ rear disk brakes?

BTW, the 83 TA has rear drums.

The best factory sway bars would be the 36mm front and 24mm rear found on the WS6 equipped Firebirds and equivalent IROC's.

The early thirdgens didn't have really big bars. Try 86-92 for 36mm/24mm bars.

Actually, the best front sway bar was the 34 mm SOLID bar, not to be confused witht he 34 mm hollow bar. This bar was found on some T/A's, but I don't remember exactly what year they were. If y you find 34 bar in a wrecker's, yank it out and drop it on the ground, if it really vibrates, it's likely the hollow bar. If it seems REALLY heavy for it's size, it just might be the 34 Solid.

The 36 mm/24 mm combo was found on some 89-92 Camaros and some 86-92 Firebirds. Should you go with this combo, I highly recommend Lon Salgren's greaseable 36mm bushings (modified Guldstrands) along with the greaseable ES version (15/16).
