1LE copper crush washers

I know I was this on here somewhere before, but can't seem to find it now. I bought part number 14076180 from the dealer and it is not a copper crush washer. I belive it is aluminum, but could be steel. (haven't opened the package yet) On the front of the package it says "GASKET-FR" so I belive it is a crush washer, and would have no problems using it except the note that came with it is odd.

"SPECIAL PARTS NOTICE"
"This part has been specifically designed for Off-Highway application only. Scince the installation of this part may either impair your vehicle's emission control performance or be uncertified current Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, it should not be installed in a vehicle used on any street or highway. Additionally, any such application could adversely affect the warrenty coverage on such an on-street or highway vehicle."

Anyone know anything about this, or know where the other post concerning this dissappered to? I pick up my calipers tomarrow so maybe there will be some copper washers in there. There weren't any with my hoses.

Thank you, Brandon

I've heard that the washers are brass or copper. Aluminum is very unbelievable as they aren't the right color and steel is much too hard to be used as a piece that actually "crushes" and conforms to the seal on the brake hose.

I don't know why there would be a warning label like that on the package, you sure you have the right hardware?

That is exactly why I posted. I'm not sure if this is the right hardware. They are part number 14076180, it has that right on the sealed package. Obviously steel is too hard to use as a gasket, but they are silver. That is why I impiled that it might be aluminum scince it is softer. Is it soft enough to seal though? The package has "GASKET-FR" right on the front, but these look nothing like any crush washers I've ever seen. I found the post I was refering to earlier, but there was never a final answer to the question there either.

The brake hose attachment bolt "seal washers" are either copper or aluminum. Either one will work just fine.

The washers that come with the "Earls" brake hoses are aluminum, but the ones I have seen supplied with some brands of calipers are copper.

The reason that the notice is on the package, is because it is the standard legal disclaimer. The GM head gaskets I bought have the same exact notice.

Thanx,ANDYZ28
