Do wheel spacer/adapters affect strength

Do wheel spacer/adapters affect strength of front suspension?

I have a 4th gen rear with 4th gen wheels and I will need 2in spacer/adapters for the front and I worry about the strength of the hub.

I'm new here but, I'm on alot of other boards.

Generally it's only a real concern once the spacers become old and worn(like anything else), or if on the rear, if you put down serious power.

I have heard the solid aluminum spacers are great, but it is the SPINDLE you have to worry about. You are moving the wheel out from the hub, and this is essentially moving the point on the spindle that holds the weight.

does that make sense?

That's only true when moving the wheel's centerline away from the spindle. When the backspacing on the wheel's hub is greater, the spacer just takes up the greater backspacing. The wheel centerline moved out only 1/2" on my car. The spacers are every bit as strong as an aluminum wheel. The only problem you could run into is 5 more lugnuts with incorrect torque specs.

That's what happened to me! When i first installed the ss wheels they were wobbly b/c i failed to get them tight enough! I just went out and got an air gun to hook up to my compressor and i haven't had a problem since. I am still curious though, my new motor should be putting close to 400lbs/ft and hp to the wheels, should i stick with the spacers or no? What if i were to go with a supercharger in the future? thanks

Goto www.skulte.com and check out his IROC. He runs spacers on his car, and is making a ton of power.
