What does the electrical connection on the steering box do?
There is a two prong connector going to a solenoid/ sensor lookin thing on one of the lines going into my steering box, does anyone know what that does, or what it goes to? Mine's just sitting there, not connected to anything... This is on an 86 Z28, originally an LG4 car if that matters...
Thanks for the help...

I asked this same question when I swapped my motor out and it hooked up to the ecm and when the wheel was at full lock, it would increase engine rpm so as not to bog down the engine and kill it.

As I recall it bumps the idle speed when the steering is moved from the center "dead spot". Since this is when the power steering would be working it is compensating the idle to manitain the rpm's. I love it, when you don't know what something is for, you bypass or defeat it. LOL

problem is with my car, that 90% of the electrical connections in the engine bay are now useless, because my ECM is long gone. So crap like that wasn't doing any good anyway. I'll take a pic of all the garbage i've removed from this thing when i get back from class. You'll be amazed...

zupman, I had a similar pile of parts left over when I did my V6 to V8 swap. The only drawback is that my "check engine soon" light has been on for seven years.
Every time I check- it's still there.
