Who knows the PBR rear calipers from 89+ well?

:hail:
I can't get my parking brake to grab anything. The lever that connects to the parking brake cable moves freely but reaches it's maximum travel (hits the other side) before enough pressure is put on the pads. The rod that the lever pushes in there looks kinda beatup on both calipers but - I'm not sure what is causing my problem. The car won't hold at all on the parking break.

A mechanic friend asked me to check pad thickness and they are almost new including the rotors!

I think these calipers have been ****ed with (there are tie raps on the e brake return springs for some reason). Other than replacing the rod with a longer one (the rod that is pushed upon by the lever...I don't see how this can be fixed.

Please help - I'm tired of resting the cars weight on the tranny. Am thinking its gonna break loose one day and kill someone.

There's a real small Allen set screw on the opposite side of the e-brake lever that you will have to adjust to get the brake pads flush with each other. That will give you more lever travel. Luckily, I did not have to do this. It was described in the rebuild kit instructions. Do you have them? If not, I can get you a copy of them.

There is an allen screw on the caliper for adjustment?
I don't understand how an allen screw can fix this problem though...especially a small one...unless it somehow makes up for the slack in between the rod and the piece it pushes against...hmm.
Please send me the info you have.

Thanks Ed!
