HELP: I cant get my weels off!

Sorry, I know this seems really stupid. I am a new Camaro owner, 86 Berlinetta, It needs new front pads. With the wheel nuts off, The wheel seems securely stuck on the hub. I loosened the nuts and drove around a bit, hoping that the wheel might pop free. No luck. What the heck is the trick? This car was parked for years, I am assuming that the aluminum wheels have sort of gooed onto the hubs. Any suggestions, Please?
Thanks
David

Put a block of wood against the inside of the wheel and hit it with a hammer or sledge. It can be a PITA sometimes.

ya put some wood behind it and beat it w/ a sludge hammer. I wouldn't drive around with the wheels loosened though. that isn't the best idea IMO.

You can also go back to your original method of loosening the nuts and driving around to remove them. But this time lay out some 2 x 4's with a gap between them and drive over them.

87 & Lon, thanks for the help. I was reluctant to beat on the rims. I backed off the wheel nuts a bit, and drove a hundred feet or so doing tight turns, forward and back. You could hear the poing when the rims broke loose. They had a "weld" of aluminum corrosion holding them onto the hubs.

Thanks again for you advice. Now to get the rear wheels off.

With the car up & lug nuts off, try spraying some pentrant in that general area & then letting it sit a while. Also, rather than a regular sledge hammer, use a hard rubber mallet (less chance of damage if you miss).

If the wheels come loose while the weight of the car is one it you might have problems with lug nut threads, or damage to the wheel.
