Hard to say exactly...
But it would be safe to assume, they're considerably less today than they were when new.
Replacement springs from Moog or the like have rates in the 500 -700 lb neighborhood front and 175 or so rear, which is substantially higher than they were new.
If you're looking to upgrade your car, don't waste your time and effort on a bunch of used springs.

actually the car was bought a couple days ago and the original owner cut the front springs to put a rake on the car. needless to say the car handles like crap. so I'm looking for some decent lowering springs. I don't want Eibachs, I want something that is more for performance and less for looks. right now I have my eye on a set of Global West springs. I'm also looking to get a set of Bilstein shocks and struts too.
so 500-700 is a good range for a street springs with the ocasional trip to the track (not drag racing).
Thanks.

Yes.
There's one particular Moog # that for some reason only lists for one year of IROCs and no Pontiacs at all, that has the highest rate in their product line. Those give a slightly lower than stock ride, with good handling. I have them on my 83 along with the Moog CC635 rears, which is the only part # they list for all these cars in all years. That combo seems to work very well for me.

cool, I'll look into those.
btw, nice sig...
I drive a mustang. my roomate just got the 89 Formula. I know mustang suspension. roomate likes the way my car handles, and wants his F-body to handle just as well. so this gives me an opportunity to learn about F-body suspension.
shhhh, don't tell my Mustang buddies but I'm an in the closet F-body fan!
I love both cars.
