Grinding At Breaking

Whenever i start to break, especially more harshly, there is a very noticable grind coming from the brakes from the front of the car. I know it's not the pads being at the rivets cuz they're new, but I don't konw what else it could be. The pedal is very hard to push, breaking is very elongated, and I can feel slight grind back through the pedal as well. Any ideas?? I'm afraid i'm gonna get into a sticky situation soon and not be able to stop in time... Thx.

you don't know anything just because the pads are new. pull a wheel and look. there are several reasons new pads may be wore out. it's also common for cheap pads to make a nosie sort of liek grinding. did you use anti vibration spray on them when you did the r&r?
