Should the front wheels line up with the rears?

I have been doing some work on my suspension settings tonight and have found that when measuring from the rear wheels that the front passenger wheel is 1/2 inch further into the wheel arch and the drivers side is about 1/2 inch further out. You can tell by just looking that it is as though the front subframe is moved slightly to the drivers side. Also to get the same camber settings on both sides the passenger side strut mount is slid as far inwards as possible and the drivers side is about half way in ie refering to the slots in the mount.
Is this normal? I thought I read a thread a while ago that said the drivers front wheel is further out.
Is it possible to loosen the subframe bolts and move the subframe at all?

Thanks

Simon

Wheel base should be the same on both sides if not it could be that something is bent. Also check ride height rears should match each other and the same with the fronts.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will pay a visit to an alignment shop and get things checked out there. Some shops have a lazer alignment which should identify any problem. I'll check ride height also

Thanks again
