Z28/RS spindles different?...

just wondering if they are any different. Cause my drop spindles should be in soon and it said Z28. I'm wondering if I will have to convert to Z28 rotors and calipers. Do I?

There are 2 kinds of spindles, the standard (later 3rd gens had beefier ones) and the 1LE (which is a modified std).

Z28 and RS brakes are the same. Unless you have 1LE, you can interchange the parts.

O_o but the Z28 rotors are bigger and the calipers would have to be farther from the spindle....oh well I'll just check when they come in if I'll need to swap to Z28 brakes or not.

Where did you get this bit of

The brakes on a Z28 and a RS are the same UNLESS you have a 1LE system...there is NO difference.

Here's the stock brakes on my Iroc Z28:

Here's what the 1LE spindle looks like:

And here's what the stock Z28/RS spindle looks like. They're the same single piston iron floater caliper style.

Supposedly there IS a difference between 15" and 16" A-arms but I don't kow exactly what that is. Both my cars came with 16s so I dunno.

The A arms are identical. Except for the steering stop. The steering stops are different on cars with 16" wheels to prevent tire to body contact.

would having 1LE A-Arms help prevent tire to body contact more than my stock RS A-Arms?

No such thing as "1LE A-arms", only spindles. If you're getting tire to body contact from those crazy assed slides you do (), I'd go with stiffer springs and struts. However, if you're getting the contact when the wheels are turned, they're probably gonna hit the fender lip anyway.

Only two A arms are available, for 16" wheels and non-16" wheels. The difference is the steering stop that is rivited to the A arm.

I bought a set of Factory 1LE A-Frames , lightened , custom solid bushings welded in from TVP's roadracing project garage sale. Now I'm kinda confused, are these the A-Arms or the spindles? I assumed that 1LE anything was better than my stock RS pieces (came with 15" wheels) so I just bought what sounded like it would make an improvement. Ended up with the 1LE A-Frames, 1LE front sway bar, 1LE Lower Control Arms, and a WS6/F41/1LE quick ratio steering box. What do you think?

hey crazy, your problem was that you assumed, those are the a-arms, and as said there is no difference in the a arms on a 1LE. the only difference in the ones that you bought was what the previous owner did to them, which i would be worried about strenght wise. (i was looking at those arms you bought, and i was kind of skeptical) if you wanted lighter arms, tubular would have been the way to go.----except i have yet to see tubular arms with a provision for the sway bar, i guess since thats more of a drag race mod.

I talked to PA racing and they have sway bar ones. But you have to order them straight from PA. I guess they have to special make them.
