Why does Baer sell their 4-pot alcan caliper kit for something like $2600?A company here the UK can supply a kit with everything including 4-pot AP racing calipers (considered some of the very best in the world) for around £1200 or $1700!!! for virtually any car.They haven't got back to me yet on whether they can do one for a third gen but even if they don't they can make custom bells to make your own setup.There are other companies who will make custom bells for this set-up.I personally think Baer make great stuff but they're way off with their prices,am I alone on this one?

 

I'm with you. AP, Brembo, and the like are better. Baer copies these companies tech. Research and a highly qualified staff is expensive, so stealing is cheaper. Just look at a real racing (not your track day crap) see what the big guys run...not baer and very few alcans. When Baer are seen at LeMans, F-1, even a Porsche cup race they will have arrived until then their just street hipe.

Alcon, which is whom makes the (non-PBR) cailpers Baer have been in use by WRC and F-1 since 1984, AP since around 1970 and Brembo since 1961.

So they have been to LeMans, in F-1 and have done quite a few Porsche' cups and are not just 'street hype'......just very over priced.

 

Yeah...I'm calling BS as well.

We used Alcon calipers exclusively (and mostly alcon rotors as well) when I worked in the TransAm series.

Don't know anything about BAER, but I've worked side-by-side with some Alcon Development engineers and they are top-notch.

The price is a bit high for all multi piston big brakes I would agree, however when you look at say a brembo kit for the (sorry import) WRX, they run from 1799.00 to mid 2's.. tack on the price of modified spindles and the bearings/assembly that Baer does and the price starts to be competitive.... I don't have my catalog with me but if I recall their Alcon kits start at about 1900.00-2000.00 probably less if you convert it to pounds..

For price though the PBR Baer kits are great for all but extreme autocross.. right inline with a 1LE conversion essentially the same thing.. my system feels like it is going to pull your fillings out

I dunno, I have PBR 13" brakes and Autocross/Road Race with them and have had no problems. But I also use brake fluid recirculators on the fronts with SRF, so that may be the difference.
