Differance between stock motor mounts and ES ones

When I basically redid thewhole car I put in ES motor mounts wich raised the motor about 1.5 inches. (Yes they are on right) I had to shim up my Hotchkis STD base to ge tthe bar to BARELY get over the TPI setup. Now fast forward a year. I put on a SuperRam and my engine is so high the bolts on the TB plate cover are digging into the hood of my car!! which means no longer the use of the STB and my wiper motor WILL not fit even if i was to cut take out the washers. Will going back to stock motor mounts help my situation? or were the old ones so wornout that i had about 2 inches of play? Thanks

i've heard this from several people about es mounts. not sure why it'd be that way. sure does seem like factory mounts would fix it. you can always rig up some sort of engine restraint ot torque strap to keep from breaking mounts.

thats a common thing alot of people seem to have..

also people have a problem with the tranny poly mounts being a tad bigger..

i heard some where you need to change to poly motor mounts and tranny mounts at the same time, but dont quote me on that...

I have a poly tranny mount. A little more vibrations but I can handle it. When it comes time to do the engine, I'm going with rubber 4 sure.

i have prothane poly mounts and i had to trim my fan shroud because the engine was so much higher, i plan on going back to rubber.

BTW the mounts are captured so there really isn't a problem with them breaking.

you would think ES would have done something about this by now.

I have heard that the factory replacements are just as good as the aftermarket motor mounts! And they are only $9.00 from NAPA, each. As for the Trans mount, i got the Prothane mount, heard that was better. It was below $30 shipped, i think around $23.

Two Words:
STEEL MOUNTS!
Been running Moroso steel motor mounts (upper & lower) and trans mount for years in several different vehicles. Very little increase in noise, no slop, no heighth increase and they last forever.
