Custom SFC's good price ?

I am looking to get SFCs soon but it seems pointless to pay to have them shipped and then have to find someone who will weld them on.

So I called a few local places (car shops) and asked on prices for custom SFCs.

They all quoted me about the same $350.00 for custom, and they can't give me a cost to weld in ones that I buy somewhere else.

I only called 2 shops (couldnt find anything else close) and they use 2x2 square for the SFCs, and will make almost any configuration I want.

Just wanted to know if this seems like a reasonable price.

i paid 30 dollars for enough material to do 2 sets. if i were doing it i'd charge around 150 or so, long as no one got real picky or hard to please. it's pretty easy work.

Where exactly do SFC's attach? obviously the subframes but where?

Edit: I also see you are a certified welder too, well that would make it easy, what about for a guy like my who has never welded

well if you can't weld there's a good chance you don't own a welder or any other metal working tools so i'm sure it'd slow you down a bit. ask around there ought to be lots of people who could do it. you don't have to work for nasa to be able to figure SFCs out.

ya I paid $50 for enough to do 2 sets. 2x2x1/4 they are about 100 pounds a set but I attached them to two places on the front subframe since I custom made em. but it is time consuming work, not really hard, just takes time so $350 is decent i think.

no i've tried and can't get the car high enough for the pic to come out looking like anything. look in some catalogs and you'll get a good idea what you need to do and how they work.

im kinda interested in how to fab my own too....where did you get the tubing?? a hardware store?? and what tools did you need (besides the welding stuff)???

thanks

ps...ive looked in catalogs...seems some have an "x" brace in between them, and others do not. what significance is that?? and it seems they all look kinda different.
