anyone have an S&W racecars rollbar/cage?

I got mine a while back and it seemed like all the tubing was cut extremely long and they would all need at least a few inches cut, especially the rear tubes, they are about 8" too long, anyone else have this issue?

Bought mine back when it was on sale..$149 for 8pt bar and 3rd gen door bars.Yet to install..work and newborn take up most of my time. Finally ripped interior out to install in next few weekends.Curious to know what people have gone thru also??Not worried about length..how did it fit in the car?

149 isnt bad. does it clear the hoor handles? this would help stiffen my car up alot i'd think.

Yeah for that sale it included the door bars to clear third gen large interior door handles.I don't know if they are still hosting that sale.Yes a bar/cage will stiffen up the car big time...but start with subframe connectors if you don't already have them.

better yet put the sfc's in when you do the roll bar so you don't have to strip the interior twice, you have to when you put the sfc's in so the welding doesnt set the carpet on fire

i've got that cage in my car. i bought it at a superchevy show a few years ago. it had been tacked in already so it had been cut to length. we put one in my brothers 71 and it was long. that way it fits all the variables.i havn't put the door bars in yet. it should have come with instructions , if it didn't they will mail you aset free of charge.i already had ssm subframe connectors in so it didn't make as big a difference as it could have. the whole car is a different animal now, in the way it drives and feels.the hardest part was the main hoop. i didn't take the front seats out at first but ended up taking them out.its definately lost its sleeper image with the bar , the 4" exhaust doesn't help either.it gives my wife some comfort when i race too.

I have an S&W, not finished with the complete install, but here it is right now... Yes mine was sent to me longer than needed, but it makes it nice, much better to have too much to work with than not enough.

the bars from the main hoop on my setup welded to plates that welded to the deck behind the rear seat.what are your bars going too? the ones that go to the rear of the car? mybar also has 2 bars that triangulate the crossbrace to the tunnel if that makes sense.they go on the crossbrace on the main hoopand down to the driveshaft tunnel, eliminating my bottom back seats.

I have the 6 x 6 plates welded in too. I wanted to keep my rear seats in place since I have a kid and want to retain the use of my car. I am planning to weld in the 2 short bars that go from the main hoop, to the trans. tunnel and also the 2 side bars next week....

yea thats anice touch having acar seat , have you seen the simpson car seats? i noticed in S&W catalog that aback halfed camaro has the bars that go from the seat brace to the tunnel - instead they welded them from the seat brace to the top of the main hoop. that might give you more room. if you install them like the picture you won't have a rear seat.congratulations on keeping your car- when my kids where that small i sold the 87 i had and got a family car.9 years later i finally got another one.
