Boxed LCA's?
Ok, I know when you box the lower control arms that it helps alittle. I also know that there are a few post here about it. I was wondering that if anyone has seen or wrote about this or hads pics of doing it? Like what size/guage steel to use? Could alumin. be used in its place (I doubt you can because it would be had to weld to steel)! I am about to swap rears out of my 85 Camaro for some 3.42 gears out of a v6 bird. I was wondering how much it would help with launching a car off the line. Also the same Q's about the relocation of the LCA. Can that be a "home made project?" Any other free/cheap ideas for traction let me know please.

you can make LCAs your self. can't weld aluminum to steeel, it'll never happen. anything or any thickness would work, naturally you'd want something you could weld easy. i used 16ga, little thin but it was heaviest i could shear.

Here's one made by my good friend the Toecutter.Luckily the steel strip was pretty much the width with just a bit of grinding to tidy it up.The thickness is about 3mm,which is actually slightly thicker than the original lca.The old bushes were pressed out and new ones pressed in with a homemade press.
