Strut replacement needed?
Just wondering if anyone has heard what I have heard a couple of times from different people. I have heard that you don't really need to change the front struts ever unless something happens to them. Does that sound right?

driving on my struts from 1990 , i can tell you they need to be replaced.
I didn't change my struts until they made a knocking sound. I mean, I drove for a year like that and nothing bad seemed to happen, but I got REALLY tired of the sound they made so I replaced them. Took some effort, but once I got the first one off the other side was a piece of cake.
And I didn't really notice a difference (I don't push my car as much as others though) in the handling or anything.

Oh, yeah, they need changed. Did the ones on my 92 with 100k miles this summer... I could move those things in and out with my hands, I could even turn them upside down and right side up and the center rod portion that is supposed to stay up would move up or down with just gravity... Do yourself and your kidneys a favor and change them.. Do the springs, ball joints, etc. at the same time while you are in there...
