Is a 95 S10 Rear end a direct swap??
Hey All,
I'm looking at a 95 S10 Rear end with 3.73 gears and limited slip to drop in my 90 formula... the car is drum brakes already so that is not a huge issue.
Is the width the same?
How much modification to swap?
Thanks!

The s10's aren't as wide as the third gen rears. You'll have to take the gears and the limited slip out and put it into your existing rear housing.

The diff won't fit since it's not the same width. The S10 also uses leaf springs and a third gen uses a 3 link system with a torque arm. There's no way you could attach the torque arm onto the S10 diff.
You could pull the posi and gears out of it. It will be 28 spline. Pop it into your third gen diff. Your 1990 should already have 28 spline axles making it an easy swap.
Third gen axles are 30 3/8" long both sides.
S10 axles vary quite a bit. The shortest is 26 9/16" and the longest is 31 1/8". Typical length is 26 3/4". There are no S10 axles the same length as a third gen since most are shorter
