Brake Retrofit?
Well, it seems that my BW rearend has finally bitten the dust. As parts for this rearend seem to be rarer than an honest polititian, I have elected to simply replace the whole thing. The plan is to rebuild the GM rearend I have out of another firebird (also disk brake) with upgraded brake parts. The question is this....
1. Can I simply scavenge the brakets/calipers/cables etc. off of a 94 or newer disk brake rear, and bolt them onto my GM rear? Or is the bolt pattern different?
2. Barring that, what would be the best alternative?????
Any input is appreciated. I checked the archives on this subject, but came up with either nothing, or more results than I could possibly check......

I must ask you a coulple of questions before I can give you an answer.
1) What year is the doner 10 bolt rear from?
2) What year is the 9 bolt?
3) Do you wish to have the '89 and later PBR type rear disc brakes when you are done?
Thanx,ANDYZ28

If you are using a 10 bolt w/disc's, yes you can up to '97. Requires making brkt. for e-brake cables.
Even the '98 and up will work if you don't mind a little work making the cables fit(new e-brake brkt's). I have done quite a few. I even made the LS1 brakes fit my BW. See sig.

I have not yet found a donor rear end.
I am hoping to use a GM 10 bolt from a 86 Trans-Am, I seem to have one lying around.... (I scrapped a bunch of F-Bodys several years ago, and still have some parts left.......)
I am hoping to do the best upgrade that I can. I am not entirely sure which year had the best brakes, and am open to suggestions.
Thanks
