Custom SFCs... Advice?
Custom SFCs... Advice?
Hey guys, I'm getting a set of custom subframe connectors welded on sunday morning. The guy only wants $125 for the job including materials and labor. He said he would work with me on what I want done and he would be using tubular chrome moly.
A couple of questions...
1. What should I look for to know I paid for quality work. (Obviously I know what they are and where they go but I'm concerned with how the weld looks and how everything is tied together.)
2. Can anyone recommend any additional bracing other than the main connectors?
It may seem like I'm worrying too much but I don't want to get ripped off.
Thanks... Jon.

i wouldn't use CM steel, to hard to work with and cracks easier. regular MS will work just fine. you don't have to work for nasa to do it ,all pretty easy. make sure the suspension is loaded just like it is when the car is on the ground and that it sits the same (level)
Hey ede, let me run something by you...
Well I got the SFCs done. No dissapointments in the quality of the design or fabrication at all. When I drove away, I could really notice a dramatic change, I mean I was grinning from ear to ear. After driving it around for about a half hour, that feeling seemed to fade and it kind of felt like the same old car. Don't get me wrong I can still tell they're there but I'm wondering why the change. Could it be that we didn't have the suspension loaded when we welded them in? It seems like after the wheels went back to there normal positions from being off the ground, thats when the change happened. Hope this makes sense to you, I'm really tired. Thanks for the help.
