4th gen posi into 3rd gen

First, is it possible?

I've seen some 4th gens in the salvage yard and was wondering if its a direct replacement for my 3rd gen open unit.

Second....How do you get the damn thing out (i.e just the differential)?

Yes it will fit, IF you have 3 series gears in your rear. But your better off just swapping out the whole rear end. Its a direect swap. You can get posi, better gears, and newer brakes for around 200 - 300 dollars. Just make sure the rear end comes from a car that didnt have abs or traction control.
