competition engineering SFC's.. HELP!
I just purchased the weld in style sfc's from competition engineering and I took them to my dads friend to see if he could weld them in for me. When he looked at them and how he thought they would have to go on he said that the floor board had to be cut out, now, I have seen pictures of SFC's installed b4 (like the picture of that camaro on the wirly jig ( http://homepage.mac.com/glenyappa/PhotoAlbum7.html ) and they were nothing like he described. If someone could please let me know if the SFC's can be welded in like in the picture. I really don't want to spend the $$ on the 8 hours of labor if he can do them the other way and only spend 2 hours. I need to get back to him ASAP so if people could reply quick it would sure help me out alot. Thanks in advance. Also if anyone has any better pictures of their competition engineering SFC's installed, and maybe quick directions as to what you used as welding points that would help too. I really am itching to get these pieces on and see what kinda of difference they will do. Thanks.

Those look like Spohn's SFCs to me.

ok.... so they are the spohn boxed style SFC's. But they resemble my competition engineering SFC's. I was wondering if that is how you would also install mine, it was the best picture I could find that resembled the style of my sfc's. There has to be someone that has successfully installed them and could tell me where they should be placed.

I have the bolt in Comp. Eng. sfcs and they required no mods to the body at all. Mine would easily be able to be welded in. Mine are rectangular tubes, but I suspect that yours maybe round tubes? I cant imagine that they would require cutting the floor.

Why not just call Spohn? I've never heard anyone having to cut the floor either. I also have Comp Eng connectors and ladder bars. They went in fairly easy.

Ok, well I guess it was my mechanic that wasn't thinking right because it seems, by everyones responses, that these require no modifications to the body. On the instructions that came with the SFC's it does say you need to cut up the floor boards, but, by looking at the picture of the camaro with the spohn sfc's it looks as if they can be welded in a different place than described in the instructions. I will be going back to his shop on monday to get it back on the lift and see if they can go on as shown in the picture. I just wonder why the instructions would say you have to modify the floor boards if you don't have to
But oh well, in that picture it is in a totally different place than described in the instructions so we will see how that works. Also, just for clarification that these are the correct sfc's that were shipped does anybody have a picture of there's b4 they welded them in? Thanks for all the responses.

actually I think he did, because he wanted to put the brackets on the front, and they are supposed to be on the back right? That would probably make sense as to why he couldn't figure it out!

Mine were the bolt in type, but the instructions said that some modifications may be necessary to the exhaust. Mine did not say anything about cutting the floor. I couldnt see that the weld in type could be that different. Mine are great and they are rectangular tubes. The bracket goes to the lower control arm, over to the sills, up the sills to the front of the door, then over to the center frame. It then bolts to the center frame. Remember the brackets to the lower control arm bracket.
