Kenny Brown Lower Chassis Support Brace
I've recently been thinking about purchasing one. I've tried looking all over the net and I can't really find any page or post that states exactly how it mounts to the SFCs. I know from reading prior posts that it attaches on each side in front of tranny pan. I know from looking at other posts a few people do have these installed on there f-bodies here, so did they help stiffen up the car? How was the over performance of this part? 100 bucks is a lot to invest in a bar with 2 flanges weld on it and some mounting hardware. Just like to get some feedback before I decide to place my order. Also they say they come with instructions, is there any way someone could possibly scan them or type them in. I'm interested in seeing how the bar connects to the SFCs, sicne I'm using Spohn SFCs. From what I can tell in pics it looks like it just bolts up with some type of brackets.

Well I just investigated a little further after making the mistake of jumping to a conclusion on waht that part is.
Just for grins, I called Kenny Brown and that part goes between the sub frames between the rear of the oil pan and the flywheel dust shield. It's supposed to stiffen the sub frame in that area.
I'm going to be putting my Alston SFC's in shortly, and this seems like it might be a good addition to my car. But I'm not going to pay $104 for it. I own a machine shop and the tubing is around $10, and the mounts can easily be made up. I'll make it a bolt on just like the one you have a pic of, because at some point in time I may need to remove the engine/trans as a unit.
That was a nice find on your part. Thanks.

This is a very common mistake when viewing this piece. If you compare a wonderbar setup to this bar you will notice the bolt holes are skewed way different if it was a wonderbar setup it would have both flanges only going one direction and the bolt holes in same pattern. There is no way this piece will bolt up on the sway bar mounts. And I do know what a wonderbar is.... I have a BMR one sitting in house right now.... just not too excited about laying on snow to put one on the car.
Below is a BMR wonderbar:

I have been wondering about this mystery brace myself.
Hey alloy, wanna make a run of them for us thirdgen.org members?
The more you make, the less they cost. You can even get the zinc wash in quantity cheaper too.

I will eventually get into making a few parts for these cars. It was pretty simple to make, but I made my own panhard bar with rod ends, and will be making a set of adjustable lca's also. It's as simple as programming the threaded insert, loading the program into one of my turning centers, and pushing the green button. Then I had the inserts tig'd into the ends of some tubing and I was done. I haven't put it one yet, been really busy. But I'll put it one when I install my sfc's.
I'm looking into other parts right now. The first thing I'm going to be making is a set of 1/4" plates that go under your strut mounts and have a mounting tab on them for a stb. If you are like me, I hate to drill holes in my car. Especially in the strut towers.
Most of what I make now is billet ATV parts. Here is a link to my auction listings.

:hail: Thanks alloy for calling into kb, I didn't even think of that. Finally we get a straight answer... hehe Been trying to read posts all over the place on this brace, kind of hard to find one with solid answers. Thanks for the great info on the mounting location too. At least that finally cleared up the location, cause I did read somewhere that it was the tranny pan. I doubt I go through with getting one, esp now that I know someone is going to make one. Maybe I'll just redo my exhaust so I can get that passenger side SFC to Tranny Tunnel Spohn brace weld into place. Keep us updated on the process, even if it's a long ways down the line. I'm still fairly interested to see how the brackets mount the bar to the SFCs. Anyone out there got one install or a set of instructions they could share?

Not sure what it will run to make these. I just found out yesterday about them, and haven't been under my car yet to check it out. I've been busy re arranging my shop getting rid of a machine that won't run. After it's gone (today) I think I'll actaully have room to put a car in my shop and work on it.
So let me check it out first and then I can let you know.

Well, you did beat my 380cc banshee on horsepower by about 30 ponies, and I'm sure you took my John Deer lawn tractor also. So that's something you can brag about!!
I was thinking about his since we had our cars on the dyno. I've got 147k miles on my car now with the original cat and pulled the 204.3 reading and I've been asked what I did to that 305 to get those numbers. I'm really surprised that my cat isn't plugged after all those miles. I was seiously thinking about getting a high flow cat, but not now. Mine seems to flow just fine.
I'm also kicking myself for not thinking to turn up the fuel pressure with my afpr after Steve told me I was running way lean on the top end after the first pull. It would have only taken a few seconds to boost the pressure 5 psi. But, I guess we were all in kind of a hurry to get out of there and have some fun. Maybe next time.

I went back and dug out old post:
Prior KB Support Brace Post
It has a bigger picture of the bar, but the brackets aren't included.
Yeah, my cats plugged up with about 85k miles on car.

well i ordered a 3" catco yesterday (GO SUMMIT!)
and am picking up qwktrips american thunder catback tomorow. hopefully that will go on next week. hopefully that will help, if it doesn't, i have some serious problems to try to track down.
and for all of those who are reading this and wondering. we put our cars on the dyno last saturday. my l03 choked badly (barely beat a poorly running 2.8). the torque peak was 233lbs/ft at 1300RMP, and dove from there, the HP peak was about 1800prm and was a peak of 116hp. so i wasn't very happy.

About the steering brace at the above post. It looks very funny as far as angles go. I bought a global west brace which looks exactly the same. With the susp. loaded, had to enlarge the driver side holes by about 2 mm to the outside. Not a big deal. It fits now and works great.

Yeah, I was wondering about the hole alignment on wonderbar myself. I still haven't got around to it since I have to swap a radiator in. We'll see how that goes. I got a free old school 31x19 radiator from trading my set of lcas that came off the car when I put my spohn ones on. Figured probably would have to room to work with radiator before I install the wonderbar.

yeah....youll see when you try to line it up. the instructions say to have to susp loaded @ installation. I tried first w/o and there was just no way. Then I put the front wheels on cinder blocks and tried-- not perfect but MUCH closer. So I only had to do a little grinding in the end.
But I think the brace is def worth it.

I got the wonderbar on.. I had to cut out about 2mm to the outside of the driver rear bolt, due to the fact that it was barely hitting on the hole corner of the bar. About 20 seconds with a die grinder fixed it. I also noticed that the sway bars have tabs on the top of the mounts that I had to cut out to fit the bar up in there, due to there not being any slots for them to fit through anymore.
