Homemade panhard rod/LCA

OK, so some of you will probably laugh and say why waste the time, but I can get tubular threaded steel or aluminum tubing, and sherical rod ends are a dime a dozen. I also have access to a welder should I need one, so the question is, if I pull off my stock peices and can get tubing that is strong and long enough, is it safe to say that I could make a "custom" panhard rod and possible even lower control arm?? Looking at alot of the pieces online, they simply are a nice grade steel rod with spherical rod ends, or is there alot more to it?

Lots of road racers build their own suspension pieces. Just be sure to use good materials and it is pretty simple to do. Just don't skimp on the heim joints as the cheap ones wear out in a hurry. Try sifting around at corner-carvers.com for more info on doing that. Lots of extremely knowledgable suspension tuning folk over there .

And Finally the other end.

I used 1.125 mild steel tubing .060 wall and Cold Rolled Steel for the other components welded on. Tig welded it togeter and that was that. Materials cost me $21cdn for the Rod end, $7.15 for the tubing and the mild steel was scraps I had laying around Total cost $27.15 cdn or almost nothing for my US. budies.

Took about an hour to make it.

All the best
Ric
