rear sway bar
ok, when i go from a stop sometimes there is a wierd ka chunk that omes from the rear end and it slows me down a bit. i thought it was just something in the trunk, but there isnt anything in there and it still does it. then i thought it might be the tranny mounts, it still could be, but i have the TA up on jack stands now and i was looking, and the rubber on the sway bar mounts is, well, cracking and the mounts themselves are rusting a lot. could changing them help me? how can i tell if they are bad otherwise? any help is much appreciated
oh, btw, its a 1988 Trans Am, 5.0, auto, 305, tbi, stock rear end

if they are suspect i would change them.
there is also a nice little performace increase in change from rubber to poly, it is actualy a pretty noticable mod.

you can get them several places, your local speed shop should be able to at least order them for you, if they don't stock them
i think spohn sells them off his site, thunderracing probably does also.
you can also get them thru summit or jegs.
shouldn't be very expensive to order them up, you might order the front sway bar bushings/endlinks at the same time also, but if money is really tight and they look ok, you should be ok with only rears.

I looked over one day while doing an oil change and saw that my endlinks looked very rusted and wore out, further inspection yielded that the drivers side was complete rusted and snapped , so one side of the sway was connected by rusted and the other side was totally rusted and broken off..
so i installed new rear endlinks and it has actually made a difference in driving and turning.. i am glad i saw that, not good to run around with only one side of the sway bar hooked up..
