Looking for info on SFC's,,,search is down
Well I started out not knowing anything about SFC's but I gathered some good info from the Spohn site and from the posts currently available. I know a lot of you guys that race your cars have them on, but would this still benefit a car that's not raced and witout many mods?? Basically what I'm looking for is to get rid of all the squeaks and rattles that are typical of these cars. I hate feeling like the car's gonna fall apart whenever I go on bumpy roads.
Also I read that it's best to get 'em welded. Would there still be enough ground clearance once they're in, and would a regular exhaust shop be able to do the job? Thanks.

Well I speak not from experience beacuse my installation is happening this coming friday, but they are not for just race applications.. Most people would agree they are a "must" for any f-body owner.. You said it when you said you wanted em to get rid of the squeaks and rattles beacuse that's how everyone seems to describe them..
It's defintely better to get them welded, if you get bolton ones, the bolts just get loosened as you go which I wouldn't say makes them useless, but for sure not as good as welding.. Your ground clearance is not effected by SFC, and you can even jack the car up from them to boot!
Might take some searching to find a shop to install them, for some it's easy, for others it's not apparently.. I've been searching for a while and now I'm just gonna head to Spohn in PA and have them do it since they are the specialists!

My bolt-in Competition Engineering sfcs do a fantastic job. Little loss of ground clearance. They are very beefy and they can also be welded in if you like. I think they are great.
yeah most if not all will agree that sfc's are a must no matter how you use your thirdgen..
did you look at the pics of the install on spohn's website.

Yeah I looked at the pics. I just did a post on the thread "sfc's rock!" talking about how important it is to have them,,,but,,,it doesn't always solve the rattling problems some cars have. I would hate to buy a set, weld them in and then still have the rattling and noises. But who knows,,,it appears most people are satisfied with the way their cars handle now so I'll prolly go ahead and get 'em.

Since search is down i will ask. Does anybody have the weld in or bolt in SFC's? How are they to install? Do they fit right? Did you notice a big improvement?
Thanks

Buy either bolt-on or weld-on, whatever suits you or whatever is cheaper. Just make sure you get them WELDED to the car.
Most generic auto shops may not be able to do the job. Ask around, someone may point you to a place that does good work. Don't pay more than $200 for the work. If you live in SE Georgia, I know some good shops.
