Sway Bar Question

I just picked up a set of aftermarket high performance sway bars for my camaro. They are made by Koni and come with poly bushings and end links.

Now the front is 1 1/4" and the rear is 7/8" so that works out to 31.75mm and 22.2mm. The thing is that the front bar is solid and not hollow like the 34mm Iroc or 36mm WS6 bar, so what I would like to know is which bars would be more rigid? This front bar weighs around 23 pounds or so.

I have Spohn solid bar combo 34mm/25mm (34mm =1 5/16" / 25mm = 1") on my V6and the *** end is slightly loose now after installing his subframe connecters. The inside rears are lifting a bit too much now with the more rigid chassis. I'm going to opt for a smaller rear bar like your solid 7/8" to keep the rear planted. Also remember, I have a lightweight V6 up front with 800Lb springs and I'm still lifting the rear. This would be way worst with a heavier V8 car that I believe stock runs about 650-700 lb springs. If I had a V8 in MY car the way it is setup I would opt for a 36mm Solid front bar if I could find one (otherwise go up a bit in spring rate with the 34mm- probably as high as 1100Lb springs- Can you say hard ride on the street) and I would buy the 7/8"solid for the rear. 25mm solid (1") is too big for the rear of these cars under any circumstance.

Thanks for the reply

I also was told that the 25mm rear bar I had was going to be to big so thats the main reason I bought these Koni sway bars since it had the smaller rear bar. I have a 36mm WS6 front bar for my car as well, I was just wondering would would be more rigid a hollow 36mm or this solid 32mm Koni bar.

I've been told that the stock 36mm bars are better than any aftermarket bar you can buy, and that it is also a good idea to keep the bars matched; 36mm with 24mm, etc. Again, I don't know this from personal experience, it's just something I've read.

My guess is that they will be very close in torsion. I would lean towards the 32mm solid being more stiff though but it really depends on the wall thickness of tube used on the 36mm hollow bar.
