295/50/15s on Stock Z28 Rims??

Is It Possible to throw a set of 295/50/15's on a some stocker Z28 Camaro Rims? These are only gonna be in back (duh). If They wont fit on the stockers what size rims/backspacing will i need to fit them ? Also.. Has anybody else run with 295's ? Im Greatly Determined to Run 295's. (Grin)

Thanks

yes it will "fit" but i would not do it.

i have seen them ona stock 15x7 rim (rednecked on) it did not look safe at all

if you are that set on running a 295, buy a bigger rim.

You cannot run those size tires with stock 15x7" wheels. The Z06 Vette has 295 rears and they are mounted on 10.5" wheels.

You have two size choices available for your wheels: the stock size (215-65-15) or a 225-60-15, both of which are good for a 7" wide wheel. You may also run a 235-60-15 drag radial, but that is the absolute max width you would want (and it is a taller tire too). A 295 tire would need a 10" wheel (they are available) and the tire would be 1" taller than factory tires.

Well...it could probably fit onto the rim...just that it would be very unsafe. Also are you gonna be doing drag racing or handling? cause if you take turns that tire will probably come right off. I mean 255 on a 8" wide rim is already buldging so 295 on a 7"? thats just crazy

most i'd say is safe is 265 in a 15x7. And thats pushing it to the max.

Thanks for all the replies. Ive Decided to go with a 10" rim since they seem to be the safest way to go. What backspacing would i need to keep everything in good order?

TIA

I'm running a 255/60/15 on my 15X7s and it works fine. 295 is too much.

the safest u could run on a 7 inch wide 15 is a 275...but it has to be a somewhat large aspect ratio...in the 45 and up range.... if u want to mount a drag radial.... get a bfg 275 50 15... bolt on cars shouldnt break lose a heated up dr... if u car's got some Ballz... then its a different story...
