Completly replace/upgrade suspension PLEASE HELP

I am looking to completely replace/upgrade the suspension on my 1992 Camaro and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what I should get and from where. I want to do the job right and money is not an issue but I don’t want to pay more than I need to. I drive my car hard and fast but it’s also my only car so it has to be usable for everyday street and highway use.

I am not crazy about getting springs that will lower my car. I mean come on our cars are already pretty low to the ground. Does anyone know of any performance springs that won’t lower my car?

A friend of mine recommended that I get the following package
http://www.vettebrakes.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=12500S
What do you think?

Additionally I saw many goodies at www.sphon.com that I thought would be nice but I also saw many that I wasn’t sure about; any suggestions as to what items I should defiantly get.

Thanks

Try a search on "suspension upgrade" and see what you get. There's another thread on this same topic. Click the link in my sig to see what I did.

Good luck!

Well, if you are talking complete replacement, then you would use that kit (which are just swaybars, springs and shocks/struts) + a front end kit (tie rod ends, centerlink, etc.) + a kit for your rears (lower control arms, pan hard rod), and replacement of all bushings.

You don't need that particular kit, it's just components after all. Just pick out what you want.

Your question is so general and vague, I hope you don't really expect a good answer. If you just want that vettebrakes kit, go for it, the components are good (Addco and Bilstein are well known). Just realize that you are not doing a "complete" replacement.

You can get everything from Spohn:
front end re-build kit w/ poly bushings
lower control arms & brackets
torque arm
panhard rod
sway bars
shocks/struts/springs

The package includes nice components but it is not complete. If I was to rebuild my suspension to day I would buy everything from Steve @ Spohn because he has everything needed to do a complete suspension rebuild/upgrade. When I had my suspension rebuilt Steve did not offer a front end rebuild kit so I opted for the front end rebuild kit from PSC that came w/ Moog components & poly bushings, then I got all of my rear suspension parts from BMR.

Look man, I dont' have the time to retype the same info every time someone asks the same question that's been posted before. I just gave you direction to info I thought would help you out. You'll find as assload of opinions on different suspension packages.

As for the link to the package you posted, if you need struts and sway bars and springs, it looks like a good deal, especially if you're set on Bilsteins. However, the stock 36mm/24mm bars are IMO probably the best bars for our cars so I can't justify buying new ones. Bilsteins go for around $400 a set, so you'd be spending $400 more for springs and sway bars. Again, not a bad package if you need all those parts. I got my 36mm bar for $50 and my KYBs for $175. Going by the above price, that left me $175 for other parts.

If you're doing a WHOLE upgrade, you'll also need tie rods, center link, new bushings, and a long list of other parts, too. New shocks and springs won't perform like they should if all your bushings are shot.

My $.02.

I think it's not enough for to much if your wanting to rebuild the suspention. You are going to need bushings too.Don't forget the Adj, panhard rod to put the rear back where it goes when you lower it. And depending on what type of performance you want. you are going to have to get another $300 worth of parts for the rear.
I say forget the sway bars and get new bushings for your old ones, paint them gold if you like and invest in the shocks, struts from somewere like summet or jeggs and get the rest, swaybar bushings, endlink kit, LCA's ,and relocating brackets, springs and panhard rod from spohn. or thunder racing. Dont forget balljoints and tierods too.
The package you have up looks like some nice stuff but if your going so far as to take the springs out then you might as well do all the other things that should be upgraded too.
You asked my opinion

Go and get spohn's front-end kit. Also get the other stuff that he says to get while rebuilding the front end. Just some bushings and stuff. That will be all that you need, unless you need shocks and struts. Get those anywhere, but you will need to decide what you want on the car. Also, get subframe connectors if you don't have them, that will help stablize the car before you do the rebuild.

If you don't like the answers that you see here, then do a search. I know everyone hates hearing it, but it really does work.
