inner vs. outer tie rod ends

inner vs. outer tie rod ends

well what is the major difference between the two? when i took mine off last night they looked indentical. why is the price so different. autozone wants 15 for outer and 45 for inner. i just dont get it. can someone explain this to me please.

One word answer:

Autozone.

Summit Racing: MOG-ES2227RL, two inner tie rods, $45.39 MOG-ES2226RL, two outer tie rods, $34.99.

One might get replaced less often than the other, so maybe they based the price on that.
