Q's about changing the torque arm mount..

When you're changing the torque arm mount, I noticed that the mount is attached to the mount housing with these little "buttons" (for lack of a better word, I don't know what they are). These "buttons" don't seem to have edges to get a socket on them and don't have wholes to use a screw driver or anything, so I don't see any obvious way to seperate the mount from the mount housing. How do I get these buttons out so I can take out the old mount and put the new one in? The new mount comes with nuts and bolts so reinstallation shouldn't be a problem, I just wanted to know how I have to take this stuff out and apart before I went aheads and started unbolting things. Thanks.

I noticed the same thing this past weekend when I swapped in a new posi rear - I was going to do torque arm bushings as well, but I ordered the wrong ones!!

I put the old stuff back in for now - but it looked to me like you have to grind those heads off, and drill out those studs in order to put the new bushings in. Unless I hear otherwise in this thread, I'll assume that's correct and do that when I get back around to replacing mine again.

Those "buttons" are rivets. You have to drill or grind off the rivets in order to take the bushing out. The new bushing is one piece and does not require rivets. The new one is held in by the metal bracket, which you need to seperate from the old bushing. It clamshells around the bushing and is bolted in at the top.

Yup, gotta grind those babies off. Hopefully you can borrow a grinder if you don't own one. Grind the heads of, pop the rest out wlith a punch, and install the new ES piece, my personal choice.

Pics of how to do the bushing replacement are in the link in my sig. Let us know if you have any more questions.
