installing a strut tower brace

searched already & couldn't find answers...

i'm about to replace my tires and get an alignment, and thought this would be an appropriate time to add a STB? i want a 3 point, so which would you recommend for a 92 RS TBI? (and where is the best place to buy it online?) i'm leaning toward the Edelbrock for $129 from Summit. anyone know of a better deal?

now some questions about installation...

when you install a STB, might it be a good idea to jack the car up a bit behind the front wheels to take out some sag from high miles? i've noticed my doors close much better if it's jacked up just a little. (i'm talking like an inch or so of spring travel - no more)

and for the hardcore DIYers:
i'm pretty good with steel fabrication, and have done suspension stuff before - how many of you have made your own STBs and/or wonder bars? how much trouble were they?

TIA~ Trace

I remember car craft installed on one their 88 Formula. Look around carcraft.com to see if they have it. I remember them saying be sure not to center it with the motor because it is not in the center of the engine compartment. And jacking the car up seems like a good idea.

i think the edelbrock would be good. there aren't too many choices for 3 points and tbi. i would suggest against jacking it up. kinda like the sfc's. you want the car to be in a settle state or you will always have a load on the stb. this can't be good.

The edelbrock one is the best. Biggest and best built. From what I've been told and red, you leave your car loaded, NOT jacked up, installing both subframes and a STB. You're doors might close better, but you're going to throw your chassis out of whack.... not to mention, your doors wont close better with a jacked up rear when you put the STB on. The STB is just that STRUT TOWER BRACE.... it only affects the front struts from flex.

I would guess that installing the STB with the load off the front would only allow a permanant understeer.. My edelbrock 3 point gave me great results, fitted on the ground.

Made my own, wasn't hard at all. Right now it's a two-point, thinking about turning it into a three- or four-point.

I bought one (Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace for TBI/carb.) but in the rush to get it I didn't check that it wouldn't fit on cars with the A/C on the driver's side... does any one want to buy it? $120 takes it!

It appears that this fool created his name for one purpose, I think he should be banned, what a joke!!!

He truely deserves the following award.

Tibey is a fine example of this.

Yeah, the description might have applied to me for doing what I did yesterday, but BOTH, the description AND the picture fit you 100% better!
