E-Brake Weights......What are they there for????
I'm swapping a set of rear disks from a 95 T/A onto my stock drum rear end.....and ran into a problem- The weights wont clear! Since the 4th gen rears are wider, but the suspension is the same, the LCA mounts are further away from the caliper, providing necessary clearence for the weight. My question is, what are they actually there for?? It can't be for e-brake return, because the whole bracket for the ebrake system is bolted solid to the caliper, and uses a spring for return. For now I have removed them, and the brakes are all bolted up, just have to make lines, and bolt the rear back in. I want to get this thing going next weekend so any help would be great.

If you have the aliminium calipers & if what i think your refering to(their round right).thay are for the calipers.Basically sometimes when you back-up.The calipers(because theyre lighter than cast iron calipers)make a humming/groan like sound.the weight just makes the caliper heavier to reduce the noise, which is mostly due to rotor(may need to be resufaced).By the way if you arent going to but them back on.What would you want for them...
