thinking of lowering, need info . . .
i was thinking of getting the Eibach Pro - Performance Lowering Springs-which lowers the car 1.25 inches, are these good-i don't want to go any lower- and what do you guys recommend-getting new shocks as well? if so, which ones-for a decent price -
and on the honeycomb gta wheels, i have 245/50/16 right now, does any company make say 245/45/16? and how wide can i go on those rims .. .i thought i heard 255's.. .
thanks

umm, the prokit most of the time doesnt lower the car hardly at all, because usually the springs are sagged from years of use.
i have a prokit waiting for install at my house, should at least give take a tad more wheel gap out.
as far as tires.
you can go to www.tirerack.com and actually search for a certain size.
i ran asearch for you, looks like 27 results for that size and a wide range in price and performance.
good luck.

I have the Pro Kit Springs.
Not much lower than the old sagging stock springs.
I cut 3/4 coil off the fronts and removed the isolators front and rear.
The KYB shocks /struts are inexpensive and are a good improvement over the stockers.
If you have $ to spend, get Bilsteins or Konis.
I have the 16x8" (92 Camaro Wheels) and I'm currently running 245-50-16's in the front and 255-50-16's in the rear.
I ran 245-45-16's for a couple years. They were a little stiffer, due to the shorter sidewall, and looked a little funny in the rear. If you're gonna use 45 series tires, I'd only run them in the front.
255 is the widest recommended for an 8" wide wheel.

using the eibach pro-kit or sportlines will not lower your car enough to give you big problems with the suspension. both will still allow you to get a good front end alignment without any augmentation. they will change the geometry in the rear and you would benefit from lca relocation brackets. not an absolute necessity but you will spin the rear tires easier than before without it.
as mentioned before people with the pro-kit typically do not experience much drop if their stock springs are worn (at this point in time most are). i went with the sportlines and found that conventional wisdom on the board that these are too low was unfounded. i did replace all of my isolators when i put the new springs in. the pic in my sig is the stance with the sportlines.
the only other item that you may want is an adjustable panhard bar. again, not an absolute necessity but lowering your car will push the rear end out toward the passenger side slightly (about 3/4" IIRC).

You say the rear will be pushed toward the passenger side. I have the pro-kit in my Formula and I'm seeing the exact opposite, mine is pushed 3/4" towards the drivers side. Anyone else notice this or is mine a freak?

pro kit
I have the pro kit and at first it didn't really make a difference but after about 6 or 7months it looks alot better.. Only problem is that the driver side front and rear sits nicely but the passenger side rear sits one inch higher and the passenger side front sits 1/2in higher... Havn't figured out why yet.. no one really notices it but I can tell and Ive messured... Anybody have any ideas on this one..
I installed some suspension techniques springs with KYB struts and springs. To make sure the car would not bottom out on large bumps I installed a rubber spring helper. (this prevents the springs from a full compress state thereby not subjecting the shocks to take on the full bump). So far I am happy with the set up. Its resonably comfortabel and handles well. It also looks great. The drop in front was 2" and about 1/2' in rear.

Oops

My bad. That is what I get for going from memory. Thanks for the correction FIII and Dewey.

I bought the same springs for my conv but the rears were way to soft. I had to buy springs from Gulstrand and cut them to fit. Much better. The fronts aren't bad but I've got a lighter engine now.
