Brake problem
Brake problem
Going down the road and hit the brakes car pulls hard right. After the initial pull stops fine. I pulled the wheels off and started checking things out. The only thing I noticed was that the right hand rotor was difficult to turn by hand and the left side was much easier to turn. I am thinking that the left hand rotor might be warped and spreading the pads too much, but the right side should not be that hard to turn should it? Help please!
Thanks

#1) Check to see that the caliper is sliding on the pins. Are the pads on that side worn equally? If not take the caliper apart and clean and lube the pins with lithium grease.
after that-
#2) One thing that I've had problems with in the past is that the rubber brake hose that goes from the hard line to the caliper can seperate and collapse inside. This winds up acting as a check valve- it lets fluid go to the caliper, but will not let it return. This would help explain your problem of a caliper hanging up. I've had brake hose literally explode when heating the fitting to get them loose. That means that there is a blockage in there somewhere.

I think it sounds like the brake hose. You could replace them with stock type rubber hoses for very little money. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea anyway, I bet they are pretty old.
If you still have the SAME problem then look into a caliper rebuild, again not much money. Actually you may be able to get reman calipers for a little more than the rebuild kit would cost. I have seen reman calipers for our cars sell for $30. That is of course the base model caliper, not 1LEs or anything like that.
