Whats The First Thing I Should Do For Traction
well im passed the stock suspensions limits, i ahve a real ahrd time cutting 60fts below 2.3s and 2.4s. its getting annoying! ive tried every tire pressure from 17-25, every launch technique, slipping, dropping. i can dump the clutch at 750rpms and it justs goes to 5200 and bruns the **** out of them, then when i grab 2nd it gets sideways a little. are drag radials the first thing to get?
Skip the DR's and get some aftermarket suspension peices if you are having problems. DR's are only going to take you so far
Also go somewhere and practice launching, don't just dump the clutch, even at 1K or whatever, you may just have to pedal it out.

I was spinning my tires awfully bad with my Firestones, 2.1 60" times and couldn't pull any quick.
Paid $140 a piece of two BF Goodrich Comp T/A Drag Radial (street legal)...and I'm positive I'm pulling 1.8 60" times or better. This mother F'er hooks. These tires are so incredibly soft that you won't even need to heat them up.

yeah thats why i think i should get some stickies first, cause all those suspension peices are useless if the tire wont adhere.
Tires will make the biggest difference in traction, dragracing or roadracing. If your car has the original suspension pieces, you might want to bring it back to OE quality and try again. Even with the same tires you might notice a difference. Technique also has alot to do with it when you have alot of torque. Try to feather the throttle next time. Choosing the RPM to launch is 1/2 of it. Throttle control is the other 1/2.

First thing is tires.
Then to fix the wheel hop you 'll have once you get tires that will hook up, a set of LCA lowering brackets, and some non-rubber LCAs.

If you're ONLY goal is too get better traction when launching, before following the tire and suspension advice ( which is all SOUND advice ) why not try a cheap trick that I and others have used in the past?
Buy one air bag. About $40. Install it in the pass rear spring...takes 30 minutes. When you get to the track, put about 18 psi or so in it and play around with the pressure...this preloads the suspension.
I've used this on more than one car at the strip, and the results are WELL worth the $ and effort...
My '80 Malibu with totally stock suspension and normal street tires cranked out consistent 1.9 60 ft times with this setup....
