bad alignment cause this problem?

bad alignment cause this problem?

Two weeks ago I replaced my steering gear box. the driver side wheel was realy out of alignment afterword, so I adjusted it in by the tie rod.
since then my steering will not recenter after turning. I have to recenter the wheel my self, and the out side edges of both front tires have been torn to shreeds like they are angled like this \ /(need new tires any way so no big deal).
I took it to an alignment shop but they wouldnt touch it because to many steering parts were bad. so this weekend I replaced all the bad parts. center link,idler arm,pass side lower ball joint,pass side inner tierod,and sway bar link kit on both side's. my steering feels real nice now with no play, but the steering still will not center back out after a turn.
I know the alignment is what is trashing my tires, but would it also cause the steering to not center back out after a turn, or is there some thing else bad that I dont know about?

more than likely it is. but you did just replace the steering box. could be real tight.

I initally thought that my self, but the steering is easy to turn, not hard at all.

You can't just adjust the tie-rod until it 'looks' correct, and expect it to be even close. That's why the tires aren't wearing correct, and may affect returning to center. Could also still be a stiff box--with power steering you may not notice it. Or other alignment setting may be incorrect (camber caster). My advice, fix one thing at a time. Start with the alignment and let us know.

Hopefully I'll be getting that done in the next day or so.

I dont know what spec's to have the guy at the alignment shop use thoe. what there comp says to use or the street, hard street use spec's I found here on the site.(here is the post I made about that https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=181476 )

I mostly do the speed limit, but I am very heavy with the gas during acceleration, and I do like to light the tires up every now and then.
