Door flex after SFC help

hey ya'll. Been so consumed with brake stuff lately I forgot about others things I needed to work on.

I had MAC sub frames welded in about 6 months ago. Great feeling. But, I am trying to address the door flex issue that did not really go away after installing the SFC's.

As you know, the MAC's weld in at the 4 subframe points (basically 2 parallel bars running from front to back with about 1-2 feet between them).

I'm trying to figure what else I can weld on to make the doors tighter w/o having to buy perimeter SFC's.

I guess I could either
a) run tubular bars along the door sills,

b) run tubular bars from the front weld points of the MAC's to the front-most portion of the area under the door sills,

c) fab up a bar that welds between the MAC's at right angles (basically making an 'H' pattern).

Since this is a convertible, I do have stock square tube SFC's that run the length of the doors (but evidently are crap anyway). Maybe I could modify these somehow.

Can anyone help out with this engineering problem?

Have you replaced the door pins/bushings? A rollbar would also help stiffen the chassis.

WHats up CrazyHawaiian??

Umm...I had thought about door pins/bushings but I did not think it was an issue since my doors never creak/squeak when I open them and they close nice and solid. Its most obvious when taking corners on roads with uneven surfaces (and I'm just talking about mild cornering).

And yes I have given lots of thought to the roll bar stuff. I think I'm going to start w/ a 4-point and see how that goes.

Its a little further down my list of things that have to be done. Gotta get a new top this weekend and then going to put in my new 350 in a couple of weeks. Then I'll see how much $$ is left and then I'll try to get started on the cage.

Take it easy
