How LOW can You GO?!?!

how low can i lower my car without having to mess with any other suspension components right now. i plan to upgrade LCA's, torque arm, shocks, panahrd rod, and sway bars but right now i dont have cash for it. i was thinking or going only about an INCH lower than stock to keep some clearnace.

The "correct" way to lower the car is with drop spindles up front and lowered springs in rear. Or, lowered springs up front with the strut caps made for that and lowered springs in back

Usually special made, they allow the strut upper mount to sit higher in the engine bay thus preventing you from compressing the strut too much from shorter springs.

Hunter Motorsports made a limited run of the upper shock mounts designed for lowered vehicles; not sure if they're available anymore.

Tom K's rebuild: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ts+strut+mount
The main message: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ts+strut+mount

I don't think any plans are made to do another run; those messages are from 2002. I think ebmiller's selling his set for $2000 though.

well any drop is gonna affect the geometry of the suspension. But I'd say about 1" is about the max you can go before things start changing for the worse. Like LCA angle, driveshaft angle, rearend centering, etc.

I knew a guy with an 89 IROC who put those springs in. After 2 years, they softened up quite a bit. The ride was comfortable but he lost on handling. They also sagged and dropped his car to more than 1 inch all around.

I wouldn't get those. Stick with Eibach or a reputable name.

I have the sportlines which are about 2" in the rear and a 1.5" up front. it is low but looks and handles great. I did the proper thing and had the rear end geometry adjusted with an adjustable panhard rod, and relocation brackets. I didn't touch the front spidals and the car was on rails. I beat this car though the corners and have yet to have any problem whatsoever.

You want low? My plate reads: ONARAIL
By the way- those are 245/50-16's not 17" rims with the same overall tire diameter as the 245/45-17's which is 25.7" tall.

It never grounds out- I'm a lightweight V6- that why. Car is fully aftermarket underneath- only thing stock its the front control arms. Springs are customised 800Lb racing springs. I rarely scrap- only an occationally large speed bump, but then it scraps on specific shaped scrap plates-no harm, no foul.
