shaking

i just had my two front tires balanced for free by my cusin that works at a pep boys. Now when Im driving, at 35 MPH i start to notice a slight shake in the steering wheel and the brake/gas pedals. Once I hit 45 MPH the whole darn car feels like its going to fall apart because of the vioent shaking. But once i hit 50 MPH the shaking stops and than restarts at around 65 mph. The car never did this before my tires wer balanced. Any ideas? I checked that they were torqued correctly and that the lgs are tight and everything is fine.

My first guess is a bad tire. Jack it up and spin each front tire. They should spin smooth and the tire should not jump up and down. If you just had them balanced, take it back. Any decent tech would have seen a problem with the tire during the balance.

Either that, or the balance job you got is screwed up.... happens alot.... a balance machine with a bent shaft or calibrated wrong will do that.

If they were good before and they just started this up after the balance was altered, I'd suspect the balance job.
