Quick ratio steering box , how many turns is stock etc...

just wondering how many turns is a stock (normal) steering box supposed to do ? (as in 2 to the left , 2 to the right or whatever the number is).

I've had to replace my box several years ago and I went with a autozone unit , then I believe I bought the "better" option they offered me (I also didn't know a thing about this stuff back then so I just opted for the more expensive piece that I figured was somehow better). Well it lets me turn the steering wheel 1.25 turns each way so how does that compare to the quick ratio steering box that some 3rdgens came with ?

you CANNOT measure it that way.

it changes depending on where you set the stops at.

for example, if the factory had a wider wheel, they would limit the tire from turning enough that it rubbed..

the ratio wouldnt change

but the stops would.

ok that makes sense , but somehow I doubt a reman unit would be limited that way, would it ?

it really doesn't matter , but it is nice to go from lock to lock in 2.5 turns (with some rubbing from my SS rims :-/ )

all steering boxes are limited that way... how much yours is set to though, we have no way of really knowing.
