I found a 86 Trans Am 305 5 speed with a Performance Suspension badge on the dash and rear disk brakes. I was looking at the firebird production chart on this website and it said there wasn't any 1LEs in 86.

 

i would guess by performance suspension they mean WS6, not 1le, i know that almost every ws6 car i have seens, has the 'performance suspension' badge on them.

 

Now here is where I may sound stupid, but oh well. I have never heard of a 1LE Firebird etc. , just 1LE Camaros. Am I wrong here??? Do tell.

they did make firebird 1le cars... IIRC they all started life as 91-92 formulas. but got 1le optioned. pretty rare IIRC, like under 100 total 1le thirdgen birds ever built.

 

Cool! Those #'s are why I haven't heard much of them.

 

I believe that every single Trans Am and Formula had the "Performance Suspension" badge regardless of whether it was a WS6 or not.

 

bah. Looks like I was already proven wrong by a friend. He just showed me a 7,000 mile 86 TA without the WS6 suspension, and low-and-behold, no badge on the dash.

 

There were 3 stages of suspension on the firebirds I believe. I think that 2 and 3 both got the performance suspension badge, but one did not. Mine was origionally level2 and had the badge. I think that the 3's were ws6's.

i think that momar is pretty close to it. from what i know, ws6 was the beefiest, while f41 didnt have as much to it. i believe f41 cars have some ws6 components, but i may be wrong. what i do know is that my dads 91 t/a is an f41 car.... its also got that little badge on the dash. search for "performance suspension badge" or something like that... you will come up on alot of stuff.

 

My T/A that had it also had the F41 code if that matters to anyone.
