Hello all, I'm currently installing eibach coil springs on my car. I removed the old ones, and I noticed that under the rear left coil spring (between the rear axle and the coil spring) there's some kind of spacer...

I did look at many pictures and didn't found any with that kind of "spacer" thingy.

What is it? can I just remove it so I can go on with the installation? Or I need to order one too for the right side?

I'd love a quick answer as I'm doing it right now!! :hail:

i've never seen a spacer under the rear springs, i would install them without it, and if it sits level, call it good. maybe you car is foobared, and it won't sit level, and that is why it was installed.

Maybe the axle has a bad/crooked spring perch.

I've never seen or heard of a spacer being there...Take it out unless the car sits wierd, which it shouldn't with new springs.

I did the install without the spacer and my rear height wasn't the same on both sides, I was about 1/2 inch lower on the "spacer" side. So I removed the spring again, put it back, and it was fine.

This is weird. The only reason why I think there may be a spacer there is that 4 years ago I hit a sidewalk (due a loss of control) with my rear left wheel (spacer side) and it broke the axle and destroyed the panhard bar.

After changing the broken pieces, the car didn't sat right at all so I took my car to be realigned, reajusted. Maybe the shop who did the job put that spacer? Anyway, it's fine now I'll post a pic soon.

Thanks to all you guys!
