Not using emergency brakes??
If you have an auto it doesn't matter, if you have a stick I highly recommend using it. Also, if you have an auto and you don't know if the parking brake has been used, DONT pull it unless you're prepared to replace your cable. They are notorious for rusting up and freezing in the engaged position

The parking brake must be used on these and most other vehicles that have the parking brake mechanism built into the calipers. This is necessary to compensate for pad wear. If you don't, the caliper pistons won't adjust and it will cause increased pedal travel. If you're afraid to use the parking brake for fear of the cables sticking, you can manually actuate the parking brake lever directly at the calipers.
