Height of unweighted springs???

Anyone know the height of our springs unweighted for our cars... can be IROC, RS, Z28 springs... I'm assuming they're all the same height uninstalled anyway

Their unloaded height varies greatly.

The higher the rate (IROC etc.) the shorter they will be when unloaded.

They are usually anywhere from about 16" to about 19" tall when out of the car.

Yep, as an example my old V6 springs were huge. The susp. techniques springs I put in were 4-5 inches shorter. The ride height remained the almost the same. The V6 springs were sagging a bit from age and supporting a V8.

The new BZY Iroc springs from GM that I just installed, measured about 15 inches. Could have been a bit longer. Took a rough measure before compressing with a spring compressor, to see how much compression was required to get the springs installed

That'd be great laiky. How about RS(V8 FE1 RPO) and Z28(WS6?) springs front and rear? Also the rate of the springs too please.

going by the moog catalog, virtually every IROC or later z28 with 16 rims calls for PN 5662. i am presently running this front spring i installed it last sunday its specs are as follows

PN : 5662
inside diameter: 4.085"
wire diameter : .750"
install height : 10.75"
load (LBS) : 1690
spring rate : 648 lbs/inch
Free Height : 13.01

please note that the catalog misprints the rate for this spring at 750 lbs but we have found that that is an error and it is really 650. It will raise your car to the factory ride height which is too high for my taste but i'm going to wait until spring time (no pun) to trim them the way i want them. I just ditched my eibach prokit for these and i can tell you they are stiffer but ride better due to the added suspension travel and the fact that the eibach's cant keep the car offthe bump stops. I like the rate a lot it is on par with the guldstrand slalom springs i put in my brothers car for 1/3 the price. I am also running the moog 5665 rear which is also the stock ride height and matches the height of the fronts. It lists as 107 lbs/in but as i've been told is much stiffer than that. so far it seems a good match for the fronts. I am very satisfied with the rates of these springs and they are a good starting point for timming the springs to set ride height. If you give me a specific model year and wheel size i can quote you the exact specs from moog but i reccomend these PN based on my weeks experience with them. Best part is they only cost me 105 bucks.
